My first professional experience was Friendship Flight 89. I flew around the world with the mission of bringing the youth of the Soviet and American youth with penpal letters and peace petitions.

I was still young when the Internet came into existence with it’s power to bring people together I knew it’s where I had to be. I often wonder how different Friendship Flight 89’ would have been if we had social media rather than just pen pal letters.

I spent years finding my fit in this new medium, working in the family trucking business and pursuing my software ambitions there. When Facebook came out I asked myself where were these things going and I knew it wouldn’t be photos and gossip forever. I envisioned social media helping industries connect for their mutual benefit.
